Mind Blowing Moments with Jeff Durand: The ant-tight

Mind Blowing Moments is a column that is written whenever Jeff Durand thinks he needs to speak to the world. It is usually not more than once a month. However, it may be more frequent depending on the world around him.

I have resisted the urge to write about this topic for some time. The topic is god and religion. I believe this is a good topic to write about on this blog. Anything that puts your mind in a jail like god and religion is decidedly un-tight. Hampering creativity is never tight and so in your never ending quest to be the tightest you can be, I encourage you to read this article, visit the links, and watch the supplemental videos.

Why write about god? This entire article is sparked by a news story I read on fox. The gist of the story is that an eleven year old girl died from complications induced by diabetes. The reason is incredible. The parents prayed for her recovery instead of seeking medical attention. The parents said the girl died because they didn't pray enough. At least they realize they are the reason she died, although no amount of praying in the world could have saved her. This type of thinking is mind blowing in my honest opinion, and thus a new mind blowing moment is born.

It is a fact that anybody who believes in god is at least a little bit delusional. Many of the supplemental material on this post displays what happens when people become severely delusional, as a result of their “belief system”. I will focus on these people, because this shows how dangerous a blind belief can be.

Why are you delusional for believing in god? The simplest answer, is that, other than someone telling you it is true that god exists, you have no other reason to believe it. You have never seen god and you never will (if you have you may be schizophrenic). You have never smelled or felt god and you likely never will. This is because god is not there. God is a way for simple minded people to make an attempt at understanding the world around them. Anything that does not have a clear solution is deemed in the realm of god. This type of thinking is clearly misguided.

It is a fact that humans invented the idea of god and thus religion. Why was religion invented? For the same reason any social construct is invented; for few to control the actions and thus money of the general population. When a group of people all trust in one entity (the pope for example). It is easy to lead a massive amount of people to do something they wouldn't normally do. As far as money is concerned, it is a well known fact that some of the richest organizations on the planet are those of a religious nature.

So why is it bad to believe in god or have a religious affiliation? The belief in god perpetuates a culture of fear and ignorance. It says: “hey don't do that, god is watching”. Nothing could be further from the truth and thus you should do whatever you want to get as tight as you can. As an example, I have two friends who waited until they got married to have sex with each other. The reason was of course religious in nature. Not having sex before marriage is nothing short of insane. What if you are sexually incompatible? Well fuck you then. You have taken an oath in front of god so you can't get a divorce. What a life of misery that would be. Needless to say it is not very tight.

Why is a belief in god and religion dangerous? Blind belief is always dangerous because it leads to irrational thought. Removing fact and knowledge and putting in it's place superstitions is simply unacceptable. In the medical and bioscience fields, scientist are actively searching for cures for various diseases. Belief in religion and god would tell us to just pray for the solution. I don't know about you, but my money is on the scientists.

I know many of you will say that this is not what all religious people believe. I am just trying to illustrate a point, which is that without believing in the silly idea of god and religion these videos would not be in existence. Extremists don't manifest out of thin air, they are bread through religious brain washing.

Here is a video about Islam Fitma. Just recently Google received a giant backlash for even hosting the video. It looks like they are going to continue hosting the video and choose free speech even if it means risking global jihad.
