Montel Williams Completely PWNS Fox News

After we posted the video of comedian Lee Camp tearing into Fox News, a lot of  Faux News videos have been surfacing.

In this clip, Montel Williams speaks out about the lack of press coverage for the dying soldiers in Iraq in contrast to the press coverage on the death of Heath Ledger.

Within a week after Montel expressed his opinion on the "fair and balanced" network, his show was dropped from several Fox owned stations.

Interesting coincidence.

It is "dying" not "dieing." I won't even get into the rest of the bullshit in this.

hey someone who knows better,
you're head is in your ass.

do yourself a favor, stop defending the worst "News" network ever. You love propaganda huh?

yes, i spelled "your" as "you're"

At least there is justice in the world. Tucker Carlson's show was just canceled. But Montel has a very serious and striking point. Society is more concerned with what happened to Lindsey Lohan than they are with the soldiers who are fighting a loosing battle in Iraq. My girlfriend said something interesting about this when she said, "the dumber the show, the more people watch." She has a point. Just look at Bill O"Reiley's show...and he is a pompous ass.

Good job Montel!

this is why i watch shows like current tv where people can watch news that is not controlled by what the media decides to show. Current tv shows content made by people in america and all over the world for people in america and all over the world.

It's "losing" not "loosing".

***THIS COMMENT IS ILLEGAL BECAUSE IT IS ANONYMOUS***

Well Montel is right, just think of Anna Nicole Smith and notice how 80% her name was at one channel or the other, it is amazing, and yet I don't know a single soldier's name who died since January 1st....of 2003!!!!

the powers that be are deliberately stupefying the general populous down so they can start these wars and get away with it. almost everyday i eat lunch in the cafeteria where i work and they have the news on multiple TVs, one of fox news and one on cnn. i could tell you just about anything you wanted to know about heath ledger or anna nicole smith's deaths, paris hilton, lindsay lohan or britney spears' legal, rehab and substance abuse issues or the 'health problems' of the olsen twins, nicole ritchie or kate bosworth than i could about the virgina tech shootings, missouri(i think) bridge collapse, or the current status of the economy or war in iraq. the only bit about current events that i can tell you about is how high gas prices are because that is the ONLY thing they will report about. "gas prices reached an all-time record high today, with no sign of them dropping in the near future. coming up, britney spears loses custody of her kids, again. and later, one of the olsen twins is sickly skinny, raising concern of an eating disorder or drug use. Stay tuned to Fox News; your source for everything worth knowing in the world today"

Watch this for an eye-opener

In this regard fox is no different than any other national network.

Not to be a jerk, especially since I really liked the vid... but "dieing" is actually spelled "dying."

:-P

who is that woman in the clip?

March 10, 2008 | Unregistered Commentersonyman25

fox is responsible for all of these spelling errors. Can't you see!! it's propaganda!

They WANT you to believe thats how you spell things.

Seriously though fox news is a joke. Too bad we don't have enough intelligent people in the US to let this fact truly come out. I mean the people that buy it into this shit are SHEEP.... BAHHH BAHH
But we sure do have enough idiots that will nod there head an agreement when they here Bill Oreilly bitchin about something that doesn't matter.

So i say fuck it and hold my head high cause at least i know im intelligent enough to have my own opinions and ideas, and understand the majority of news in the US including fox, cnn, msnbc are ALLL biased. Fox just does it so blatantly it makes me want to bash my nose into my brain, hopefully resulting in a mild delirium. In which that case i could turn on fox news, sit back, and enjoy.

I Love You Internet.

Why do people always act like this is something new? Sensationalism in journalism goes back hundreds of years and is not some modern "dumbing down" of the populace. In fact, given the accessibility of information, where even the poor can manage to own a computer or use one at a local library, or school, I would say that in general, society as a whole is far more educated and informed than any has been before it. This is only just growing as more and more people turn to online news, blogs, and wikipedia instead of purely TV for the news.

Television has always been a tool of entertainment, and the fact that news is degenerating into infotainment means only that the number of channels carrying the news, along with the internet and traditional paper media, has increased the competition in news such that they have to cater to what people want to see, not what they want to display. People have more desire to know about Britney Spears than the war because to them, it is more important information. I don't think this is necessarily untrue. I am very wary of anyone, especially media moguls and people with agendas(right wing or left wing zealots) to decide for people what they should and should not be watching. I am sure that most of these people whom have posted here about the "Dumbing of America" think that they could do a better job at deciding what I should should know, but I think that is a far greater step in the wrong direction.

The information exists and people who want it will find it. Sites which carry news that, in your opinion, matters, will be more likely visited by you than frivilous sites. People who want fashion news will goto fashion sites. Let people choose what they want to know. I just know that I am far more informed today than 10 years ago. When something happens in the middle east, I first goto Yahoo News for the AP, then Drudge Report for related stories, then I goto Jerusalem Post and Haaretz Daily's respective sites, after that I goto Al Jezeera's English site to see the Arab opinion, and finally I goto BBC or the Times then next day for clarification. All this, at my fingertips. Perhaps the reason that the mainstream TV news seems dumber is just because we the people are getting smarter.

What is he doing on his show. Does he have a daily report on who dies in Iraq everyday. I totally support what he's saying, but he's hypocritical if he's not doing what he wants FOX to do.

March 10, 2008 | Unregistered Commenterjesse

But he's not covering Heath Ledger. It's the disproportionate focus of Fox News on celebrity deaths and their responsibility to provide coverage of current events and that failure that is the issue.

March 10, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterBleh

Fox News sucks donkey dongs. Period. Don't watch it and tell your friends to not watch it.

March 10, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterFoxy Brown

Montel is still mad at Fox News for uncovering his "psychic" friend, Sylvia Browne, as a fraud. And the reason why he's losing stations is that his ratings are near non-existant.

yes, there is more access to different outlets of information than ever before. but when the mainstream media, which is everywhere, is broadcasting more about celebrities than they are about actually news-worthy items that is what the mind-numbingly stupid people in america will view as news-worthy. who do you honestly believe got more airtime on national news when they died; ronald reagen or anna nicole? if a person wants to know about world events and current issues, they have to search for it; which most of this lazy, remote control-driven, microwavable frozen-dinner country is not willing to do.
for a large number of people, being stupid is a choice. instead of watching actual news, be it local, national or world or some other form of constructive programming, people would rather watch a show where, for a chance at $200,000 the contestant will sit affixed to a lie detector answering questions regarding marital infidelity with their spouse watching. with access to all the world's knowledge at their fingertips(internet), many people would rather spend all their time watching videos of crashes and people getting hurt or porn. expand your knowledge beyond entertainment. trust me, you'll thank yourself later. we can only make information available, it's up to the individual to utilize it.
when a city has budgetary concerns, in general, what is one of the first institutions to get budget cuts? public schools. when kids fail in these schools, instead of reformation to achieve better output they instead lower the standards so more kids pass. in essence, they are encouraging 'stupid'.
and the sad part is it won't get any better since america's youth is spending all it's time watching bullshit shows on mtv like the hills and my super-sweet 16 who will now expect that to be reality. they will become the masses and this is what they will expect. it makes me sick reading stories online of single, two-job fathers who have to deal with trying to explain to their 15 yr old daughter that he can't afford to throw her a huge party for 150 people with bands for her next birthday, let alone buy her a brand new mercedez as her first car.
i work in customer support at a hospital (IS) and let me tell you, there are a lot of truly stupid people out there. i could go on for days but a large chunk of our employees, who use computers everyday, have only one basic troubleshooting skill; regardless of the problem their first step is 'call help desk'. i am not on the front lines in that department but listening to 2nd hand stories and even fielding inquires myself i know for a fact this country is doomed. and these aren't high school education/GED low level minimum wage employees
either; these are nurses. college educated people we put in charge of keeping people alive. these are people whose conversations are only about the last episode of desperate housewives or project runway. their conversations on politics are "i'm not voting for obama because he's black. i'm voting for hillary because it's about time we had a woman as president, she can handle it, she spent 8 years in the white house!" when asked about how they view her policies or if they believe she has the necessary experience to run the country or about news of scandals involving campaign funding they stare back with an apathetic look on their face.
this country is going downhill and fast. and it's not something new either, it's just that more folks are slowly but finally starting to recognize it. people like us have been saying this for quite some time now, but when a person of montel's stature says these kinds of things you know that people are going to take notice and it's a step in the right direction. a trend is beginning. if they could only get oprah to catch on, then all the over privileged housewives who drive tahoes and drink white zin all day will get informed.
